One Florida grandmother recently spent time in jail after smacking her granddaughter across the face with a house slipper.

95-year-old Hattie Reynolds was upset that her 46-year-old granddaughter, Janeen Williams, refused to get out of bed while screaming and cursing at her to be left alone. Reynolds admitted to yelling back and hitting Williams with the slipper she was wearing. Reynolds then called the police and was arrested, according to the Daytona Beach News-Journal.

“I can’t … get her out from my bed,” Reynolds said in a call to a police. “I ain’t got nothing to pay bill on air condition all the time for her to go into the room.”

Williams later told police that her grandmother provoked the confrontation while also admitting the slipper didn’t do any serious damage.

Daytona Beach Police Chief Craig Capri said that domestic violence law required Reynolds spend at least one night in jail, even though Williams didn’t want to press charges. Reynolds was released by a judge and was back at home within 24 hours.
