Starbucks is in hot water again after a Hispanic customer said he was the target of a racial slur by one of the baristas at a store in La Cañada Flintridge, California, NBC Bay Area reports.

A man named Pedro said he ordered two coffees from the store and received his order with the word “beaner” on the cups rather than his name.

“It’s an offensive word used towards Latinos,” he told Telemundo 52.

This latest incident comes a few weeks before 8,000 Starbucks locations are set to close for racial-bias training in the wake of two Black men being arrested for trespassing when waiting in the store for a business meeting last month.

Pedro, who didn’t want to give his last name, said that the word wasn’t written by accident because the barista called out his name once the order was ready.

The store location offered him a $50 gift card that he refused.

“I didn’t accept it because it’s like an insult overall,” he said.

In a statement to NBC Bay Area, the company said it’s working to fix the situation.

“This is not the experience that we want for our clients,” the statement said. “We asked for his forgiveness and we are working to correct this. Also, we are investigating the incident to ensure this will not be repeated.”

Pedro wants the barista to face the consequences of her actions.
