Howard students are none too pleased with their university, again. In August, the HBCU announced its choice for the 2017-2018 Gwendolyn S. and Colbert I. King Endowed Chair in Public Policy would be former FBI Director James Comey.

He was also selected as the 2017 Opening Convocation Keynote Speaker, and Howard’s class of 2021 made it known their administrators’ decision wasn’t sitting well with them.

Before Comey could get five words out, students put up their Black power fists and began singing the timeless Negro spiritual, “We Shall Not Be Moved.”

They also shouted,“Get out, James Comey, you’re not our homey,” and recited the protest slogan,“No justice no peace!”

After giving the students 15 minutes to express their opposition, the former FBI director stated: “I hope you’ll listen to what I have to say. I listened to you for five minutes.”

WHUR’s live stream of the convocation was cut short.
