It's no surprise that the Obamas and the Carters are quite fond of one another. Earlier this week, Jay-Z and Beyonce hosted an exclusive fundraising event for President Barack Obama at Jay-Z's 40/40 night club in New York City. The pricey tickets went for a whopping $40,000 a piece for each of the 100 invited guests. The benefit successfully raised $4 million total.
In a photo of the three superstars, an Oscar de la Renta clad Beyonce can be seen beaming brighter than we have ever seen her smile before. “I can’t tell you how proud we are to host tonight’s event with President Obama. … We believe in his vision,” she reportedly said in her introduction of the commander-in-chief.
Obama then warmly thanked the couple in his speech, referring to them by nickname, and spoke of his daughters' love for them both:
“Let me just begin by saying to Jay and Bey, thank you so much for your friendship. We are so grateful. Michelle and Malia and Sasha are mad at me because they are not here. That doesn’t usually happen. Usually they’re like, we’re glad you’re going–we don’t need to go. But every time they get a chance to see these two they are thrilled, partly because they are just both so generous, particularly to my kids. And Malia and Sasha just love both of them.”
