Colin Kaepernick’s undying commitment to social justice has attracted widespread esteem for the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback.

The NFL placed itself on the opposing side of the Kaepernick fanfare by seemingly blackballing the free agent the 2017 football season. But a number of media outlets, most recently GQ, have revered the athlete’s conviction.

On Monday, GQ honored the athlete by anointing him its first “Citizen of the Year.” Kaepernick was photographed and videotaped throughout Harlem but per usual, the athlete remained mum.

Yep. Kaepernick became the magazine’s cover story without even having to say anything. Instead, GQ recruited 10 public figures including legendary activist Harry Belafonte, filmmaker Ava DuVernay and Kaep’s girlfriend and radio personality Nessa Diab.

Read GQ‘s “Colin Kaepernick Will Not Be Silenced” to discover what some of today’s most respected leaders find most admirable about the icon and gawk at the photo shoot.

(Disclaimer: Kaepernick looks exceptionally foine like foiner than you’ve probably ever seen him in these photos. The braids, the fro, the abs and tats all in the context of his superb humanity — it’s a lot, frankly.)
