A lesbian woman was viciously attacked by a group of five people at a Los Angeles Jack in the Box restaurant.

26-year-old Sabrina Hooks said she was with her girlfriend when they were approached by five people who began taunting them.

“They said, you know, I’m a dyke and I’m gay and I had to keep my ‘hoe in check’ and just for no reason,” Hooks told ABC 7 Eyewitness News about the late October incident which took place in Inglewood.

When she began defending her girlfriend, the group began assaulting Hooks by pushing, shoving and punching her. Not only were the woman’s teeth knocked out, she also sustained a permanent injury to her left-eye.

“It was like a horror movie, except I wasn’t watching it…I was in it,” she said. “It’s not even about my sexuality, it’s about human decency.”

Hooks’ girlfriend Morgan said she struggles not to tear up when she looks at her partner.

“Looking at her makes me want to cry every single time I look at her. To just assume that two guys can seriously put their hands on a female, it’s shocking,” Morgan said.

Aside from the sheer cruelty of the attack, Hooks and her girlfriend said the lack of help from bystanders was also disheartening.

“For it to get violent and, like I said, no one helped, that’s just what really stunned me and it still hurts. It makes me fear just to walk down the street,” Hooks said.

L.A. police have classified the attack as a hate crime. A GoFundMe page has been created to assist with Hooks’ medical expenses.
