Pending a deal being completely worked out, as well as a physical, former Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch will be coming out of retirement and putting on an Oakland Raiders uniform when the NFL season begins in September.

NFL.com reported Wednesday that Lynch’s representatives and the Raiders have agreed to contract terms and a trade of Lynch’s rights with the Seahawks have been worked out. Also as part of the deal, the teams would switch out late round picks in the 2018 draft.

Lynch retired from the Seahawks after the 2015 season but he decided he wanted to return to the NFL and play for the Raiders, which is his hometown team. He had met with the team earlier this month and said he was interested in playing for them. In the new contract, he gets paid a base of $3 million, but stands to make $2 million more if he rushes for more than 1,000 yards.

Lynch joined the league with the Buffalo Bills in 2007 and went to Seattle in 2010. He’s rushed for a career total of 9,112 yards, 6,347 of them with the Seahawks. He also became a household name for his avoidance of reporters’ questions during press conferences. At a 2015 Super Bowl media appearance, he repeatedly told reporters, “I’m just here so I won’t get fined.” The hilarious quip became so famous that he trademarked it a year later.

Lynch’s potential teammates on the Raiders seem to relish him joining and say they look forward to getting him back on the field –on their side.

“He’s a great teammate from everyone that I’ve talked to from the couple of Seahawks that we’ve had on our team. They love him,” said Raiders’ quarterback Steve Carr told NFL.com.

“Marshawn is one of the best running backs I’ve ever played against in my short career so far,” Raiders defensive end Khalil Mack told the Associated Press last week. “It would be a great, great, great treat to have him on this side, on the dark side.”
