The My Brother’s Keeper Alliance, an initiative spearheaded by the Obama Foundation, will host its final Pathways to Success: Boys and Young Men of Color Opportunity Summit on Tuesday.

According to a press release, the summit will take place in conjunction with My Brother’s Keeper Newark, Newark Mayor Ras J. Baraka, the Prudential Center and Prudential Financial, Inc.

The summit will be all day and will provide more than 1,000 New Jersey boys, young men of color and other youth that are underserved (ages 16-29) the space to interview with employers; benefit from on-the-spot hiring; connect to community resources, mentors and social workers; and have a frank conversation about solutions regarding youth violence.

Career preparation and leadership and development training will also be offered.

“At the Obama Foundation, we are committed to creating opportunities for everyone and empowering young people to create positive change in their communities. My Brother’s Keeper Alliance is central to this work as it continues to focus on building safe and supportive communities for boys and young men of color across the country,” David Simas, Chief Executive Officer at the Obama Foundation, said in a press release. “I’m excited to join The Pathways to Success: Boys and Young Men of Color Opportunity Summit on the fourth anniversary of the launch of My Brother’s Keeper where the inspiring youth in Newark will showcase their talent, get connected to local resources, and take steps to jump start their careers.”
