Dozens of people looking for a quick, legal high are being rushed to emergency rooms from a new simulated drug. Synthetic pot sold in corner stores and gas stations in New York has been found to cause hallucinations, seizures, and violent behavior. New York politicians Sen. Chuck Shumer and Councilman Peter Vallone, Jr. are pushing for a ban to the product that costs between $15 and $75.

Essentially plant leaves sprayed with toxic chemicals, the product mimics marijuana’s active ingredient, THC. In a national survey, it was found that one in nine teens had tried the product. "I guess we all assumed that the federal government was going to act on it," Vallone told the Daily News, "but we can't wait because our kids are dying."

How is this product even legal in the first place?
