During a rally for New Jersey gubernatorial nominee Phil Murphy, former President Barack Obama was met with chants of “four more years” from nostalgic attendees.

With his signature humbleness, Obama made an unsuccessful attempt to redirect the crowd’s attention to Murphy.

The 44th president was then forced to give the crowd a reality check and did so with humor that probably only served to deepen their yearnings for his return to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

“I will refer both to the Constitution as well as to Michelle Obama to explain why that will not happen, but we got four more years coming up right here in Jersey,” he said referencing the Democratic gubernatorial candidate.

Murphy is expected to win New Jersey’s gubernatorial race. If he is victorious on Nov. 7, he’ll be replacing incumbent Gov. Chris Christie.
