Video footage shows an Ohio police officer stomping on the head of an African-American man as he lies handcuffed on the pavement.

The two-minute clip was filmed on April 8 and shows Officer Zachary Rosen violently trampling DeMarco Anderson’s head into the ground during an encounter in Columbus, Ohio.

Prior to the attack, Anderson is seen lying face down on the ground handcuffed and held down by another officer. He does not appear to be resisting arrest and doesn’t seem to be provoking the officers.

In a statement published on the International Business Times, Columbus Police said that “Officer Zachary Rosen is under investigation for his actions that took place involving a suspect under arrest” and that he “has been reassigned to a non-patrol duty indefinitely.”

Police were responding to a firearms incident in the vicinity of Maize Road and Weldon Avenue. Resident John Marteny called police after Anderson allegedly entered his home and disturbed his sleep by firing a weapon.

Marteny believes Rosen acted accordingly.

“I think that was totally justified cause he could have got loose somehow,” Marteny said.

“Based on what we’ve [seen] in the video taken on Saturday April 8, 2017, the action taken by one of our officers does not meet the standards by the Columbus Division of Police,” the statement from the department continued. “It appears to be inconsistent with the values and training we instill in our officers.”

In 2016, Rosen was reportedly involved in the controversial shooting death of Henry Green in Columbus. Green, 23, was shot by Rosen and another officer for allegedly ignoring commands to drop his weapon during an altercation with authorities.

Friends and family members of Green walking with him at the time said the plainclothes officers did not identify themselves when they started yelling at Green.

A grand jury declined to indict the officers in his death.
