A seventh-grade student shot himself inside the bathroom of his middle school in Jackson Township, Ohio, on Tuesday, WKYC reports.

The incident happened at Jackson Memorial Middle School around 7:51 a.m., according to WKYC.

The shooting prompted a lockdown of the middle and high school in Jackson local school district before students were dismissed for the day. The elementary schools will remain closed.

Earlier reports indicated that the student was carrying Molotov cocktails and ammo, but that was shut down by Jackson Township Police Chief Mark Brink, according to WKYC.

Parents waited outside of the school to pick up their children after the shooting.

It is unclear if the shooting was intentional or an accident, but the student was transported to a hospital, according to CBS News.
