Here we go. Unfortunately, a Pennsylvania electronic voting machine has been taken out service due to an ill system error. The out of service machine was caught changing a vote for President Obama into one for Mitt Romney, NBC News confirmed.
The video, first posted on You Tube shows a voter pressing the button for Obama, but repeatedly coming up with a mark next to Romney’s name.
The user of the machine gives a brief account of what happened:
“My wife and I went to the voting booths this morning before work. There were 4 older ladies running the show and 3 voting booths that are similar to a science fair project in how they fold up. They had an oval VOTE logo on top center and a cartridge slot on the left that the volunteers used to start your ballot.
I initially selected Obama but Romney was highlighted. I assumed it was being picky so I deselected Romney and tried Obama again, this time more carefully, and still got Romney. Being a software developer, I immediately went into troubleshoot mode…”
As mentioned the machine was taken out of use for other voters to follow, but this is a very scary red flag for many voters. The best bet is to pay close attention to your voting machine and report any and all issue you may come to find. Here’s hoping that no one else will have to deal with this kind of issue.
