Another look at the political week that was…

●      Actress Ashley Judd is already the target of an attack ad put out by Karl Rove’s Crossroads GPS.  She hasn’t announced formal plans to run for the U.S. Senate in Kentucky but it seems Republicans are already nervous she would be a challenge to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.

●      The ‘War on Women’ continued in earnest this week with transvaginal ultrasounds in Michigan and heartbeat bills in Arkansas.  Just a reminder: abortion is a legal medical procedure and that was decided by the Supreme Court 40 years ago.

●      Senator Marco Rubio is emerging as the 2016 frontrunner for the Republican party, complete with the coveted response to the State of the Union Address.

●      Rubio also voted to block the Violence Against Women Act this week.

●      NBC News broke the story about a Department of Justice white paper detailing the targeted killing of terrorists that are American citizens.

●      The United States Postal Service ended Saturday mail delivery this week because of cutbacks and the refusal of Congress to intervene.

●      Former Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. could be facing significant jail time.

●      House Majority Eric Cantor tried to “re-brand” the Republican party this week and failed because their policies are the problem, not their branding.
