Rachel Dolezal, shocked the world when it was discovered that she had been living life as a Black woman.

Dolezal, who was born White, was the president of the Spokane, Washington, chapter of the NAACP. But she was forced to resign after the discovery of her true identity.

Now she’s back in the news. This time, the woman who lives her life as African-American, says she’s on the brink of homelessness.

During an interview with The GuardianDolezal said the only work she’s been offered since the scandal has been in reality TV and porn. She says that despite applying for 100 jobs, no one will hire her and she may soon be left without a place to stay.

Dolezal also said she is currently on food stamps.

“Right now the only place that I feel understood and completely accepted is with my kids and my sister,” she said.

In 2015, the 39-year-old was thrust into the national spotlight after her parents came forward and said Dolezal was not Black. The NAACP is an organization that is known for having White leaders, but critics slammed Dolezal for misleading the public.

“I feel like the idea of being trans-Black would be much more accurate than ‘I’m White.’ Because you know, I’m not White,” she told The Guardian. “There’s a perspective, there’s a mentality, there’s a culture. To say that I’m Black is to say, this is how I see the world, this is the philosophy, the history, this is what I love and what I honor. Calling myself black feels more accurate than saying I’m White.”

Despite life as she knows it being turned upside down, Dolezal says she will not apologize for living life on her terms.

“This is still home to me. I didn’t feel like I’m ever going to be hurt so much that I somehow leave who I am, because I’m me. It really is who I am. It’s not a choice.”
