In December, activist Erica Garner, passed away after losing consciousness and going into cardiac arrest at age 27. She was a solid fixture in the world of activism following the death of her father, Eric Garner, in 2014 at the hands of a Staten Island police officer who placed him in a choke hold for selling loose squares.

During the final months of her life, Garner was reportedly planning to release a video she’d recorded of a meeting with Justice Department officials in NYC on June 21.

Garner was reportedly furious about the meeting, and felt the officials had made empty promises to her, her grandmother, Gwen Carr, her mother Esaw Snipes and Rev. Al Sharpton, who were all in attendance.

The video reveals that Justice Department officials appeared to infer to the Garner family that they can expect a decision regarding civil rights charges soon.
