President Donald Trump has fired Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and replaced him with CIA Director Mike Pompeo, the president tweeted on Tuesday.

Tillerson had reportedly been at odds with the president during his short tenure as the head of the State Department, even calling him a “moron” to Cabinet officials in July, according to NBC News.

The President also confirmed that Gina Haspel, who was the deputy director of the CIA, will replace Pompeo, making her the first woman to head the spy agency.

“Mike Pompeo, Director of the CIA, will become our new Secretary of State,” he tweeted. “He will do a fantastic job!”

Administration officials told The New York Times that Trump wanted a new team in place for his upcoming talks with North Korea in May.

Tillerson had reportedly not been aware Trump’s plan to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un when it was announced last week. He was in Africa at the time when the announcement was made, according to the Times.
