Those Dream Defenders have had a LONG year, from launching "Youth Unchained" programs in Florida community centers and schools; to fighting new private prison contracts;  to testifying at the United Nations and the Florida state Capitol against "Stand Your Ground" expansion.

The organization has been learning, growing, and staying inspired. We are running a voter registration project in the 50th anniversary of Freedom Summer, with Black and Brown youth building community networks across Florida to activate and mobilize young voters and voters of color. We will be working against the state's massive private prison industry by putting pressure on legislators and political candidates, & challenging prison contracts with the state government.

On Thursday, April 24th, the Dream Defenders will be hosting a social at Red Rocks in DC.  The event will be a cultural gathering of the Dream Defenders' community in DC, featuring brief presentations from the Dream Defenders team, artwork, drinks, and good company. "Blacked Out History Month" prints and t-shirts will be available, as well as the classic "Can We Dream Together" & "Good Kids Mad Cities" tees. "

The night will help support Dream Defenders campaign work in 2014 – fighting the school to prison pipeline, Stand Your Ground, mass incarceration, private prisons, and more.  RSVP here.
