Update:

A Tinder spokesperson provided a statement to EBONY denying Hawkin’s claim stating:

While we do not comment on pending litigation, we can say, categorically, that we do not ban users from Tinder due to gender identity. At Tinder, we fundamentally believe that gender is not binary and we support inclusivity and acceptance of all people, which is why we offer more than 37 gender identity options for our users in the United States.

A transgender woman claims that Tinder is keeping transgender individuals from the service in the Portland area and has filed a lawsuit against the dating company, according to TMZ.

TMZ obtained the suit filed by Ariel Hawkins, who said that Tinder deleted her account once she revealed in her profile that she was a pre-op trans woman.

She said she received an email from the company saying its terms of service were violated but didn’t provide further details to her.

“I don’t think the company understands trans people and they don’t appreciate how we may represent ourselves,” she told TMZ. Adding that she is on the site to find love, but its “refuses to provide transgender individuals full and equal access to its app.”
