Oakland’s Roses in Concrete Community School opened in East Oakland, California in 2015, aiming to “developed youth committed to lives characterized by self-discipline, integrity, love and hope in the pursuit of justice and equity for all communities,” according to their mission statement.

The K-8 learning center was recently helped greatly with a $650K grant from Google.org. Oakland native Zendaya Coleman celebrated the announcement alongside teachers, students, artists and education advocates.
