Nothing can ruin the elation of getting a shiny, bouncy blowout quicker than realizing you don’t know how to maintain that magical salon-smoothness on your own.  So we asked Johnny Lavoy, a PRO Beauty Tools celebrity hairstylist for a few tricks of the trade for extending the life of that perfect blowout at home.

“Straighteners and products that promote smoothness, condition hair and eliminate frizz without weighing hair down are key,” explains Lavoy. “Use silicone drops to eliminate frizz and add shine to a blowout that is a few days old. Touch up any unruly edges with a flat iron. And for coarse hair, stay away from dry shampoos — they dull the hair and give it a dry look and feel. Instead, opt for a lightweight leave-in conditioning treatment that will smooth hair and tame unruly frizz, without weighing hair down or leaving it greasy.”

And of course having the right product and tools on hand will make maintaining your blowout a breeze. To ensure that your coiffe remains sleekly on point, here are 10 products that’ll have you basking in the glory of your freshly blown out hair a week after you’ve long left the salon.

Slip Pure Silk Pillowcase

Cotton pillowcases zap the moisture out of your mane, leaving it dry and matted. Instead, “wrap, top-knot [with a loose scrunchie to avoid bends] or pin-curl your locks while sleeping on a satiny pillowcase so that you wake to silky, smooth strands,” advises celebrity hairstylist Larry Sims. “And, rub a pea-size amount of Smooth ‘N Shine Polishing Hair Polisher as an extra precaution against frizz.”
