It’s that time of year again when April showers bring May flowers and right after that summer is here. So to get you right up to speed, we wanted to highlight the hottest lingerie and swimwear brands for Summer ’17.
This upcoming season is bound to bring an array of colorful prints, short skirts, sheer shirts, and trendy gear. With this wardrobe, you need to make sure your under garment game as well as your swimsuit game is proper. For women of color, finding underpinnings that match our skin tone has always been only an occasional win but as of 2016 there’s been a surge of support in this area. Designers like Ade Hassan of Nubian Skin made it her mission to create ‘a different kind of nude’ inspired by woman bosses like Eunice W. Johnson of Fashion Fair Cosmetics and supermodel Iman of Iman Cosmetics to bring women of color skin tone hosiery to the forefront.
Mass retailer, Target recently jumped on board launching their new nudes campaign supplying customers with a wider assortment of flesh tone colors in hosiery including cocoa, caramel, honey beige and mochaccino.
And as far a swimwear, with the help of Instagram we’ve seen many African print style swimsuits pop up from the likes of Nigerian designer BFYNE Swimwear and men’s swimwear line Okun, which allow readers to get in touch with the motherland while rocking the hot vibrant styles on vacay or to the nearest pool. And note that these swimsuits look good on any skin tone! We’re just happy to see this trend rollout and can’t wait to show off our summer bods in the cultural patterns. Check out the slideshow to see the latest staples coming to your wardrobe soon.
