Former first daughter Malia Obama apparently would much rather be behind the camera than in front of it. According to a report by Naughty Gossip, Malia, who is currently interning for Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein in New York City, has turned down several offers to model professionally.

After eight years of being under the intense microscope of the world, the 18-year-old has plans to lay low and live a more subtle life. She would much rather focus on the film industry as she has dreams of going into production full time after college. She is currently taking a gap year before she heads to Harvard University this fall.

It is no secret that both Malia, Sasha and former first lady, Michelle Obama have a passion for fashion. Malia is reportedly obsessed with shows America’s Next Top Model and Project Runway.  Despite of her height (6’1) and strong fashion sense, Malia has no interest in making modeling a career.

“Malia has a model body that would be great for runways. She has been offered several opportunities to model but turned them all down. She wants to be behind the camera, not in front of it,” sources told Naughty Gossip. “She loves the film and TV business and loves reading scripts. She will leave the modeling to Kendall Jenner. She has zero interest of being famous like her dad.”

According to Daily Mail, her internship duties include reading scripts and pitching them to executives at the film production company. Malia has also interned with the HBO show Girls in 2015.

It is not easy to be in the spotlight 24/7. We are glad the Obama family has made a smooth transition out of the White House. We can’t wait to see what wonderful things are in store for them!
