Earlier this month, NYC was buzzing with editors, celebrities and style icons in the making for the annual Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week festivities.  While the majority of the presentations still focused on womenswear, more and more designers are showing their male fashions.  Check out EBONY's top 5 trends from the spring 2013 menswear shows:

POP OF COLOR: Bright colors have been seen throughout the menswear shows and presentations during NYFW.  Whether it’s a short, a pant or a blazer, men who dare to be different and want to add a pop of color have more options to do so.  We recommend adding one bright color to your wardrobe this coming Spring.

MONOCHROMATIC: As an alternative to the color block stories we saw last Spring, the monochromatic color palette has shown up in quite a few menswear collections.  Going tonal rather than pop is a great way to add color without looking too 'matchy.'

FINE PRINT: Not since the 1990s era of Versace have we seen print making such an important statement in menswear.  Be it streetwear or ready-to-wear, print of all kinds is an important trend for the year to come.

WHITE OUT: Although white is being worn all year round now, its no secret that white is most prominent in the spring/summer season.  White continues to be a great accent piece for menswear.  Whether it’s a slim fit pant or a white anorak, white items were all over the runway.

SHORT STORY: Long story short (pun intended), shorts are important item for all men to have this coming Spring.  Hitting just above the knee, the short has shown up throughout the 2013 collections.  Paired with either a blazer, a button up or by itself,  fresh shorts are a must add to your closet.
