Creating original nail designs for celebs and reality TV stars, D. Malone is making a name for herself in the nail artistry industry. After her first client found her on Instagram, the rest was history. Now an owner of the mobile nail salon, "D’s on the Spot Nails," Malone is in full grind mode as she works to build her business. We wanted to know how she got started and she gave us a quickie interview so she can get back to those drying nails!

EBONY.com: When did you first decide to make nail art design a career?

D.Malone: I’ve always done my own nail designs.  I got the idea to go mobile after I posted my nails on Instagram and a friend of mine asked me to come to his home to do his wife's nails.  Another friend of mine, knowing I had gotten into nails professionally, called me one day and said, “I need you!”  She happened to work for a talent agency and brought me on set to do nails for a photo shoot.  My nail career has kind of taken off from there!

Editor’s Note:  To create Olivia’s abstract nail design, D.Malone chose China Glaze Neon in Celtic Sun ($6.79)  For the accent nails she created abstract shapes with a fine paint brush using Essie Nail Color in Licorice ($8.00).
