This week we caught up with Columbus, Ohio based freelance nail artist, Tonika Knorwood.

The Trend: Rhinestones on nails aren’t what they used to be. Nail artists are taking it to the next level by mixing them with gold foil, using various sizes to create certain designs and adding in a little colored ones to offset the usual clear. Many artist have also managed to make rhinestones coincide perfectly with hand painted nail art. This week's design is the perfect play on diamond-like nail designs.

EBONY: How did you create this design?

Tonika Knorwood: I created this look with nail polish, gold foil and rhinestones. I just have my clients choose colors that they find appealing, and they basically let me do what I want.

EBONY: What do you feel is your artistic significance when it comes to nail art?

TK: For starters, I'm a perfectionist and every nail is literally a work of art to me. I approach my art how I live my life. I don't limit myself.
