From runway inspirations to one-of-a-kind designs, our picks are sure to keep you up on your nail game while giving you the 411 on how to recreate many of the looks yourself. This week Tati of Fresh Paint Nailz for her fab designer nail art.

The Trend:  Matte nails entered the nail game on the runways and have now made their way into high street fashion causing quite a stir.  What we love most about these designer digits is the chic contrast in the gold Chanel logo against the simplistic black and white backdrop.  The negative-space detail gives this manicure a fresh twist to its lux 80s vintage vibe.

EBONY: How did you create the look?

Tati:  First, I painted each of the accent nails black.  Editor’s Note:  Try Layla Soft Touch Effect Ceramic Nail Polish in Noir Touch ($10.00; Zappos) Using the black polish, I painted the nail moon and tip. To give it a more detailed look, I cleaned up the lines.  [Editor’s Note:  You can do this using a pointed cotton swab and nail polish remover.]  I then outlined the sections in white. I hand painted the Chanel logo and flower details then outlined the nail in white.  To finish the look, I topped each nail with OPI Matte Top Coat ($9.00; ULTA) .

EBONY: What are your favorite nail trends?

Tati:  I’m in love with stiletto nails and “junk nails," a throwback trend that's back in full effect. Junk nails are completely covered in whatever jewels and 'junk' you can find. I love these! I've even went as far as finding old bits of broken glass, crushing them even more and covering the nail with them.
