This week we caught up with editorial manicurist and nail artist Erlange “Lady E” Alouisaint, owner of Glazed Spa in South Florida, for the scoop on her chic-white mani.

The Trend:

If you plan to sport white a few more times before fall officially hits, be sure you pair your ensemble with this lovely white-on-white nail art. The negative space designs and the golden stone accents add a modern twist to the classic French manicure, making this nail design a hit in any color. Check out the details below on how to easily recreate the fab nail art.

EBONY: How did you create the look?

Lady E: The design was done over a fresh set of acrylic nails. First I used two coats of white nail polish on nine of the fingers. We like Dermelect Cosmeceuticals “ME” Anti-Aging Color Treatments in Opulence ($14; Dermelect.com). To create the negative space, I used a small French brush, which was dipped in acetone to remove the polish in the mid-section of the nail. I then used white acrylic paint with a marbleizer to create the floral print. Last, I placed some rectangular metal pieces and diamond shape stones to the accent nails.

[Editors Note: To give your nails a gel-like finish, try a shiny top coat like Seche Vite Quick Dry Top Coat ($4.85; Walgreens.com).]

EBONYDo you have any tips or advice for women who wear acrylic nails?

Lady E: It is very important to make sure you get a fill-in every two to three weeks to prevent lifting. Lifting can cause issues such as water mold that can eventually lead the fungus of the nail.
