Saturday, February 21st, 2015 marks the 50th year of the assassination of Malcolm X (El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz). The Malcolm X & Dr. Betty Shabazz Memorial and Educational Center will commemorate this historic moment in the same place Malcolm X’s life was taken 50 years ago (formerly the Audubon Ballroom) in Harlem.

Around 300 guests are expected to attend this momentous occasion, including notable event speakers Mayor Bill de Blasio, Congressman Charles B. Rangel, New York City Council Member Ydanis Rodriguez, Ilyasah Shabazz (daughter of Malcolm X), Saul Williams and A. Peter Bailey, as well as EBONY.com Senior Digital Editor, Jamilah Lemieux.

The program will also include a reading of Malcolm X’s Eulogy (written by actor and activist, Ossie Davis) by Actor Delroy Lindo and a ceremonial "moment of silence" at 3:10pm, commemorating the exact time of Malcolm’s assassination in 1965.
