Rick Dale of Rick’s Restorations in Las Vegas is busier than ever bringing new life to objects from the past. Some of his largest and most expensive restorations to date include a “Big Mac Jail” from a 1970s McDonalds PlayPlace and an authentic James Bond 1977 Lotus Esprit Submarine Car featured in the film The Spy Who Loved Me. When celebrity client George Clinton of Parliament-Funkadelic fame recently stopped by the shop, the pressure was on. But there isn’t anything Rick’s Restorations can’t handle.
On June 2’s brand new episode of the HISTORY series American Restoration, Rick and his team prepare for a pitch-perfect project as Rock and Roll Hall of Famer George Clinton arrives with a beaten-down 1923 Chickering quarter baby grand piano. Before the piano was damaged in a flood, it was full of memories from the past four decades, as the Grandfather of Funk has written and recorded numerous songs using this piano including his hit, “Give Up the Funk (Tear the Roof off the Sucker).”
