What does it take to rebuild black communities devastated by blight, crime, unemployment, and neglect? In one particular community in Pittsburgh, Pa, it takes a dedicated cadre of committed black men working and rebuilding together. Project O.N.E. is Pittsburgh-based urban renewal program that is powered by black men whose own lives are in the process reconstruction. The program is unlike most programs in the country where areas are redeveloped with the “minimum amount” of minority workers on a crew renewing areas that where they themselves might live. Project O.N.E. is a new, innovative model for urban renewal where communities of color need to see what true renewal looks like. It’s nice to see an answer to what for some has been a life long question: “How do I fit in?”. To learn more, please visit www.GameChangersProject.org
