The Power of 3

October/November

Creative Direction: @thecourts
Production: @biancagreyy
Styling:@yashuasimmons

LOCATION:
The photo shoot took place at the Kimpton Hotel Monaco in downtown Washington, D.C. The unique and vibrant decor of the hotel set the tone for an interesting and distinct set backdrop. Hotel Monaco is across the street from the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery and a short drive from Capitol Hill.

BITES:
The crew enjoyed a breakfast of pastries, fruit, bagels and lox. On the way to the airport to catch their flight back to Atlanta, Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms and her team ordered Nando’s to go. If you’ve never had it, you’ve got to try it! The chain, with roots in South Africa, is beloved by people all over the world.

WASHINGTON, D.C.:
The District of Columbia was not always the capital of the United States. George Washington was first inaugurated in New York City. Later, the capital was moved to Philadelphia, where it remained for 10 years. In 1790, Washington, D.C., was named the capital of our nation.

ON SET:
Our time on set was exciting and hectic. Sens. Kamala Harris and Cory Booker had to squeeze the cover shoot in during their lunch break, which gave the EBONY team a little less than an hour to complete the shoot. The senators had to rush back for roll call to vote on a bill.
