Netflix formally announced on Wednesday signing Academy Award winner Regina King to a multiyear first-look deal.

According to Deadline, she will produce films and series for the streaming service through her Royal Ties production company.

"Regina King is a multifaceted talent both behind and in front of the camera," said Ted Sarandos, chief content officer at Netflix. "She’s been a trailblazer for years, with boundless creativity and impeccable taste in projects, and we couldn’t be more thrilled that she will bring her formidable talents to Netflix."

"I am beyond thrilled to join the Netflix family," King said. "They are at the top of their game, and as an artist I am so excited to come play in this wonderful sandbox they have created for storytellers."

The actor, director and producer was recently named one of Time Magazine's most influential people of 2019. She also won an Academy Award for her role in If Beale Street Could Talk, along with receiving her third Emmy Award for her role in Seven Seconds.

King is the latest Hollywood producer to join the streaming platform, including Kenya Barris, Shonda Rhimes and Ryan Murphy.
