The New Jersey chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has created a phone app that will allow users to record police activity in neighborhoods. The app was made in an attempt protect recordings from being deleted by displeased officers.
Called “Police Tape,” the ACLU hopes it will give video evidence to victims of excessive police force and harassment across the country. "Police often videotape civilians and civilians have a constitutionally protected right to videotape police," said Alexander Shalom of the ACLU New Jersey Police Council, to NJ.com. "When people know they’re being watched, they tend to behave well."
