Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum called out President Donald Trump on Twitter on Monday after the president falsely claimed there was voter fraud in the Florida elections for governor and Senate.
Trump tweeted that an “honest vote count is no longer possible” following news that a recount would take place in both races.
“The Florida Election should be called in favor of Rick Scott and Ron DeSantis in that large numbers of new ballots showed up out of nowhere, and many ballots are missing or forged,” said Trump. “An honest vote count is no longer possible-ballots massively infected. Must go with Election Night!”

Gillum, who’s vying to become Florida’s first African-American governor, responded to Trump with only three words.

Republican Ron DeSantis, who’s facing Gillum in the race, holds a narrow lead by 33,000 votes; Gov. Rick Scott, who challenged Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson in the race, is leading by 13,000 votes as of Monday, according to NBC News.
Gillum and Nelson trail their opponents by less than 0.5 of a percentage point, which automatically triggers a machine recount of the ballots.
Scott accused liberals of being “unethical” and said they were trying to steal the election from him.
“I will not sit idly by while unethical liberals try to steal this election from the great people of Florida,” he said on Thursday.
Scott sued the Broward County elections supervisor, Brenda Snipes, accusing her of violating public records laws by not working with his campaign when it requested voter and ballot information, according to the Tampa Bay Times.
He also sued Susan Bucher, the Palm Beach election supervisor, for not allowing party representatives “to properly witness Defendant’s processing and duplication of physically damaged absentee ballots.”
Nelson’s spokesman rejected Scott’s claims that the election was being stolen from him.
“The goal here is to see that all the votes in Florida are counted and counted accurately,” said spokesman Dan McLaughlin. “Rick Scott’s action appears to be politically motivated and borne out of desperation.”
