Thursday night, the stars came out to an event sponsored by EBONY and iTunes Movies called “Celebrating the Storytellers” where African-American filmmakers and artists were given the spotlight. The stage was shared with executives from Apple as well as Ebony Media just days before the Oscars.
“Even if Oscar doesn’t give up the gold, we still win,” said EBONY Editor-in-Chief Kyra Kyles in remarks at the event. “We win because we are telling our stories, and not just in front of the camera. We are excited, and rightfully so, to see our own skinfolk beaming down upon movie audiences from that silver screen.”
