Austin Police Chief Brian Manley labeled the bomber that terrorized the Texas capital earlier this month a “domestic terrorist.”

Manley was speaking at a panel hosted by Austin NPR station KUT on Thursday when he made the remarks about Mark Anthony Conditt.

“I actually agree now that he was a domestic terrorist for what he did to us,” Manley said to the panel at the George Washington Carver Museum.

“I’ve had an opportunity to sit back and reflect on the impact that it had on our community, and not be centered and focused on the investigation and trying to put a stop to it,” he said.

Manley was at the panel to look at how the bombings affected communities of color.

Law enforcement investigated if the attacks were racially motivated after Stephan House, 39 and Draylen Mason, 17 were the first two victims of the three-week series of bombings. They were both African-American.
