Colin Kaepernick has not played in the NFL since 2016, following his kneeling protest during the national anthem to bring awareness to racial injustices. Leading up to Sunday night's Super Bowl LIII game, several celebrities shared their support for the former 49ers quarterback.

"I will not be a spectator, viewer or supporter of the #SuperBowl today in protest of the @NFL's racist treatment of @Kaepernick7 and its ongoing disregard for the health + well-being of all its players," filmmaker Ava DuVernay tweeted. "To watch the game is to compromise my beliefs. It's not worth it #ImWithKap."

Prior to the big game, other prominent figures including LeBron James and Charlamagne tha God were spotted wearing Kaepernick's soldout charity jersey. The proceeds from #ImWithKap jersey went to the Know Your Rights Camp, a free campaign founded by the athlete-turned-activist to raise awareness on higher education, self-empowerment and how to interact with law enforcement.

During the Super Bowl, Kaepernick shared images of his supporters on social media including civil rights activist/award-winning singer Harry Belafonte and young actress Storm Reid.
