Waves of allegations of sexual assault levied toward politicians appears to have recently inspired Barack Obama to make a call for more women in politics.

During a private event in Paris, the 44th president spoke on “the importance of more focus on putting women in power, because men seem to be having some problems these days.”

“Not to generalize, but women seem to have a better capacity than men do, partly because of their socialization,” Obama said. “How can I make the people around me better? How do I empower them … how do I build a team where everyone’s pulling together to get something done?”

Since filmmaker Harvey Weinstein was accused by multiple women of sexual assault, countless women and men have come forth with allegations against a number of powerful men including politicians.
