Justin Bieber Apologizes for Racist Joke

On Sunday, a video leaked of pop star Justin Bieber telling a race joke about Black folk. In the clip he asks, “Why are Black people afraid of chainsaws?” Despite warning from a friend to not continue with the joke, mimicking the sound of a chainsaw, the Biebs repeated, “Run ni**a.” After feeling the wrath of angry spectators, Lil’ Donald Sterling released a too-long statement for me to include in Black Pop Daily apologizing for his insensitivity.

Bieber ended his sob soliloquy by saying: “Five years ago, I made a reckless and immature mistake, and I’m grateful to those close to me who helped me learn those lessons as a young man. Once again… I’m sorry.” The footage was reportedly captured back in 2011, during the filming of his Never Say Never documentary.

David Alan Grier Performs Kanye’s Tweets as Spoken Word

We all know David Alan Grier is a fool (in a good way) and Kanye West is a psychotic time bomb (in a good way), so mix the two together and you have pure hilarity! And that’s exactly what VH1 decided to do. The network had Grier perform some of Yeezy’s most outrageous, narcissistic and explosive tweets as spoken word. Grier poetically recites the MC’s infamous rant against Jimmy Kimmel, and in another segment, the comedy vet labels Ye’s tweet, “Boyfriends are like rush hour traffic…ALWAYS IN THE F—KING WAY” as “pimp talk.” (An old-schooled playa always recognizes the game.)

50 Cent Reunites with G-Unit at Hot 97’s Summer Jam

Hot 97’s Sunday Summer Jam session proved to be a historic day in hip-hop. For one, Nas made amends with former-ally-turned-foe 50 Cent onstage during his set at the Jam. Fif came out and surprised fans at the MetLife Stadium with a few of hits, as Esco shined right by his side. But when Tony Yayo, Young Buck and Lloyd Banks joined forces, I think a few G-Unit fans might’ve had mild heart attacks. Together they performed solo hits like Banks’s “On Fire” and Yayo’s “So Seductive.” It turned out to be a beautiful night for fans of ol’ school ’00s hip-hop.
