Laverne Cox Says She Supports Caitlyn Jenner’s Journey
Before Bruce Jenner was reintroduced to the world as Caitlyn on the cover of Vanity Fair, Orange Is the New Black star Laverne Cox broke down barriers on the cover of Time. Both were pivotal, important moments for the trans community. And Cox says she supports her newly transitioned counterpart.
“I’m certainly not giving her advice about being in the public eye—Caitlyn knows how to do that really well, better than a lot of us!” Cox told Deadline. “We’ve just talked in general, very general terms about it. And really, I’ve just offered support around her journey, that’s all.”
Cox, a.k.a. Sophia on OITNB, also recently provided backup for charity via the 25th annual burlesque show Broadway Bares on Sunday (June 21). Along with dancers and celebs like Bravo TV’s Andy Cohen, Cox helped raise nearly $1.6 million for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS (BCEFA).
Khia Says Janet Wanted to Do Nasty Things to Her, Threatens to Remake “No Sleeep”
Thirteen years after “My Neck, My Back,” we’re somehow still talking about Khia. It’s commendable really. The raunchy rap troll’s latest offense: shading the unshadable Janet Jackson. In the midst of the Queen of Pop’s music resurgence, Khia tweeted that she would remix Janet’s comeback record “No Sleeep” and outshine her on it. Just a day earlier, she suggested that Ms. Jackson propositioned her nearly 10 years ago. “Ask Janet how good I write,” she tweeted (and deleted). “I wrote her a hit in 06… she was Sooooooo Excited about it she wanted to lick #MyNeck&Back but I said naaawl.”
This all apparently stems from a collaboration between the two artists back in 2006, on a song called “So Excited.” Khia wasn’t happy about her minimal role in the song’s video (although she’s since said she put their issues aside after Michael Jackson’s death). Anyways. While Khia talks to herself on Twitter, J. J. is preparing to be honored with BET’s inaugural Ultimate Icon: Music Dance Visual award at the BET Awards this Sunday (June 28).
Justin Combs Backs Diddy in UCLA Incident
While the Internet ki-kis and ha-has about Diddy’s latest episode—allegedly assaulting one of his son’s UCLA football coaches—Justin Combs is expressing gratitude. “I thank God for having a father that’s always there for me. Love you pops!” Puff’s son wrote in a caption to a photo of the two of them Tuesday afternoon (June 23). Looks like he’s standing by his dad, who claims he was defending himself in the already infamous dispute (which, incidentally, took place less than 24 hours after Father’s Day). “The various accounts of the event and charges that are being reported are wholly inaccurate,” a representative for Diddy told Revolt TV in a statement. “What we can say now is that any actions taken by Mr. Combs were solely defensive in nature to protect himself and his son. We are confident that once the true facts are revealed, the case will be dismissed.”
