Whitney Houston’s Estate Is Turning Down Hologram Offers… For Now
While fans of Michael Jackson, Tupac Shakur and Ol’ Dirty Bastard have seen their respective music idols resuscitated via hologram in recent years, Whitney Houston’s life after death will take a bit longer. According to Pat Houston, the late singer’s sister-in-law and head of her estate, she’s passed on offers to visually revive Whitney. “We did Madame Tussauds, the wax museum, with Whitney’s figures and that was a little scary to stand there and take photographs next to these figurines of Whitney. It’s kind of spooky,” Pat Houston said. “I don’t know how I would feel about [a hologram]… It’s just been only two and half years. Maybe down the road.” As for musical projects, Whitney Houston unfortunately didn’t have a massive stash like the aforementioned Tupac. Still, aside from her new DVD/CD release, Whitney Houston Live: Her Greatest Performances, Pat Houston says are “a few surprises” from the late great singer for the years to come.
Rihanna Promises New Album Will Be “Great” at Military Base Visit
The two years between 2012’s Unapologetic to present-day represents the longest gap in Rihanna projects since her Music of the Sun debut in 2005. And as the world awaits a new album from the Bajan singer, she offers no clues to the as-yet-untitled LP’s release date, just one promise. “It’s going to be great, that’s all I’m going to tell you, and I’m excited about it,” Rih Rih said during a meet-and-greet Wednesday with fans at a Fort Belvoir, Virginia, military base. “I try to battle myself and outdo everything I’ve done, and that’s been the hardest thing to do,” she said. “You start overthinking things at times.”
Lee Daniels Signs on to Direct Paranormal Film Demon House
Lee Daniels is going from slave narrative to supernatural. Following 2013’s The Butler, the 54-year-old director has signed on to direct Demon House, an Exorcist-like story based on a real-life family that claimed to be victimized by demonic possession. The life rights were acquired from Latoya Ammons of Gary, Indiana, whose family’s paranormal experience dates back to 2011 and 2012. Ammons’s children experienced levitation, strangling each other and involuntary growling with no recollection, some of which was witnessed by a Department of Child Services case manager. Exorcisms were performed with the Gary Police Department on hand. It’ll be a shift—to say the least—for Daniels, who’s also known for Precious and Monster’s Ball.
