The world woke up to news of the passing of David Bowie, who died Sunday after an 18-month battle with cancer at the age of 69. The singer was certainly a rock icon, but his contributions to soul music including “Fame,” “Young Americans” (a writing collaboration with Luther Vandross) and the heavily sampled “Let’s Dance” can’t be forgotten, and those who were influenced by his sound from R&B to hip-hop were sure to remember him on social media Monday morning.
