Since the 2015 death of Bobbi Kristina Brown her father, Bobby Brown, has been determined to keep his daughter’s memory alive. After establishing a nonprofit, the Bobbi Kristina Serenity House, in her honor shortly after her passing, the former New Edition singer is expanding the organization to include an actual domestic violence shelter to house girls and women in need.

In a statement to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Brown, 49, confirmed his plans to create a crisis center for those looking to escape abusive relationships.

“Our family lives with the pain every day of losing my beautiful daughter, Bobbi Kristina, to domestic violence. She loved Atlanta and in her memory we are proud to announce the formation of the Bobbi Kristina Serenity House. Our initial goal is to help educate women and men of all ages, by creating a 24-hour crisis intervention line and emergency transitional shelter.”

On Jan. 31, 2015, Bobbi Kristina, 22, was found face down in a tub of cold water in her home, suffering irreversible brain damage. After spending six months in a coma, she passed away while in hospice care.
