Netflix just released another clip from its upcoming original film, Burning Sands. The scene is a short conversation between two of the film’s stars, Trevor Jackson and Alfre Woodard, who seem to be discussing Jackson’s secret participation in a fraternity.

If you aren’t familiar with the film, it is described as an inside look into the secret process of becoming a member of a Black fraternity.

Here’s how I characterized the film on EBONY when the first trailer dropped last month:

Burning Sands takes viewers on a raw, voyeuristic journey inside the illegal fraternity pledge process through the eyes of one interest, who is torn between honoring a code of silence or standing up against the intensifying violence of underground hazing.

The first trailer caused quite a bit of discussion by many in the Divine 9–the nine Black Greek letter organizations in the National Pan Hellenic Council.

While some were excited about the film, others thought it offered a skewed view of both HBCU life and Black Greek letter organizations (criticisms the BET series the Quad has also encountered).

Burning Sands is written and directed by Gerard McMurray, a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, and stars Steve Harris, Trevante Rhodes, Tosin Cole, DeRon Horton, Imani Hakim, and Seraph McNeil.

Take a peek at the clip below, and let us know in the comments if you are looking forward to this film.

Burning Sands premieres on Netflix on March 10.
