Stillman College

Jalicya Lowery

Year in School: Senior
Major/Minor: Double Business Major with concentrations in marketing and accounting.
Expected Graduation: 2020

Extracurricular Activities:
Throughout my matriculation at Stillman College campus involvement has always played a pivotal role and has been my priority. Outside of being a presidential scholar and presiding over the Campus Queens and Kings Association, my other activities include: The Executive Branch of the Student Government Association as the Vice President of Academic Affairs, and captain of the Lady Tigers Women basketball team, in addition to being voted Best Female Athlete of Stillman College 2018-2019. I am also a member of the first black greek sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. In addition to these on campus activities, I actively participate in the community at the local elementary schools: Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary and Stillman Heights, actively engaging with the students as tutors and serving as a positive mentor to a group of developing children. I often serve at the tuscaloosa soup kitchen for the veterans, and homeless.

Career Goals:
From a young age, my dream has always been to become an entrepreneur. My future aspirations include being an entrepreneur in the billion dollar beauty industry. I am going to open a business that allows women to purchase luxury hair, lash extensions and quality clothing. I aim to create a one stop shop for women of all races allowing them to purchase high end, yet affordable hair and lash extensions, as well as the latest fashion looks. During my time here at Stillman, my aspirations have shifted. The science discipline has become of great interest to me. I have always had an inquisitive mind, which aligns well with my career in Biological Science. My future aspirations now include becoming an anesthesiologist at a top rated surgical center, while chasing my dream occupation as an entrepreneur.

What is your most memorable contribution as a Campus Queen?:
As a campus Queens my most memorable contribution has been having the ability to impact and influence other women around me. Since being Miss Stillman, I have had the opportunity to speak to, work with, and mentor other young women on campus. With these responsibilities, I am required to lead by example and demonstrate excellence in order to promote my platform and empower other young women. My ultimate goal is to exemplify success with ambition and hard-work as the morals that I value in order to impact other young women to dream big and pursue their dreams as I have. It is my goal to see more confidence and success in young minority women to lead and grow into their full potentials. My most memorable contribution as Queen involve me inspiring and empowering other women in the sense of giving back to the youth and bettering their futures, specifically within the community at the local elementary schools.
