Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter is looking to keep his hot streak going by teaming up with Duracell and Powermat. The initiative, dubbed "Wireless Power Nation," will allow cell phone users to charge their mobile devices by simply placing them onto a Powermat-powered surface wirelessly. "I believe in the future of wireless energy and I believe that Duracell Powermat is the company to bring on the revolution," Carter, an investor for the venture, said in a statement. "I'm partnering with Duracell Powermat because they're providing the solutions for the future."

The Roc Nation CEO has already set the system up throughout his own New York City 40/40 Club and finds a "mat" plugged into a wall outlet which will create a "ZZZT" sound. The noise indicates that the wireless connection has been made and charging has begun. A Google app will display a map of all the chargeable hotspots available and will be rolled out beyond New York next year.
