Todd Johnson will be joining the NBC News Digital team as NBC BLK’s editorial manager.
Todd currently serves as managing editor of theGrio.com and will begin his new role on March 5.
Initially, Johnson joined theGrio.com as a video journalist and reporter shortly after its launch in 2009. Since then, he has covered a variety of news events, including traveling to Haiti following the earthquake in 2010 and reported on the devastation of New Orleans. Johnson also provided news coverage on the 2014 Ferguson, Missouri protests following Mike Brown’s death.
“I’m very excited to be leading NBC BLK’s editorial efforts and join the NBC News Digital team,” Johnson said in a press release sent to EBONY. “I want NBC BLK to be able to tell compelling original stories and challenge the narratives surrounding race, identity and culture.”
He is a graduate of Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism.
