Google executive, Valeisha Butterfield Jones has a new title.
According to Black Enterprise, the award-winning community engagement, multicultural marketing and communications strategist has been promoted to global head of women and black community engagement.
Butterfield Jones’ new gig will not only allow her to continue to advocate for diversity and inclusion in tech, but to drive systemic and measurable change to create an even more inclusive culture” at Google.
In her new role, Butterfield Jones will also lead a worldwide recruitment and retention effort dedicated to enhancing equal opportunities for Black people and women.
Butterfield Jones, 39, has been with Google since 2016. She started out as the head of black community engagement. In that role her primary responsibilities were implementing diversity and inclusion strategies. During her time in this role, Butterfield Jones assisted in creating initiatives meant to groom and elevate people of color for leadership roles.
She also played a significant role in launching Howard West, a summer residency program that trains and mentors Howard University STEM students at Google’s campus in Silicon Valley.
