EBONY Media is looking for an experienced Sr. Features Editor who is passionate about both editorial excellence and celebrating black excellence. The Sr. Features Editor will report directly to the Editor in Chief and will oversee, edit, produce and/or create attention grabbing, traffic-driving longer-lead, original features for EBONY.com. The ideal candidate will have at least 6+ years of editorial experience at a digital-first media company.

Job description (general, including but not limited to):

• Work with EIC and managing editor to develop monthly content calendar
• Manage, top-edit and assign stories to staff and freelancer writers
• Secure writers and interview subjects for exclusive original content
• Assign and edit original 250 – 1,000 word features for four of EBONY’S digital verticals: Lifestyle, Entertainment & Culture, Work & Wealth and News
• Pitch story ideas and writers for each of the above verticals and help other editors do the same
• Oversee special editorial packages as assigned by Editor in Chief
• Write compelling headlines for SEO and to engage and expand the EBONY audience
• Secure exclusive interviews and exposés and write longform feature stories
